Tim Farrelly, Engineer, Founder
Dublin → --:--

I'm Tim, a founder and engineer. I want to help AI go well. I'm also very into art.

I co-founded Field of Vision with my friends Omar and David. We build haptic devices to transform the way blind fans watch sport (featured in Time Magazine's Best Inventions!). I built everything software, AI and camera related. Once the company was in a stable place, I stepped back to focus on AI Safety.

Around the same time, I also stepped back from running Patch, where we find and support Ireland's most talented youth.

I also co-founded Hack Ireland/ Hack Europe, the country's largest student hackathon, and am now helping establish it as a sustainable student-led org. I also helped bring an underground hacker meetup in Dublin to life—if you know you know.

These days I spend most of my time thinking about how to help AI go well—it's a hard problem! Currently, I'm researching strange LLM behaviour and personas, mentored by Cozmin Ududec from UK AISI. Previously, I worked on AI safety research with researchers at Oxford and TCD, focused on cooperative AI. See talk here.
